DESIGN MAKING A STATEMENT

Bright colors, surprising shapes and state-of-the-art technology: Ocean View is a unique lighting concept using recycled ocean plastic. According to the creator, Kate Vanhoutte, Ocean View goes beyond lighting. It is a clear statement that comes in heavenly shapes.

The innovative technology makes for a unique and natural shimmering

NATURAL BEAUTY

As a lighting element, Ocean View refers to natural beauty in all its aspects. Like a floating jellyfish, elegant electrodes connect the floating parts. The recycled grains are recognizable and look like a school of fish moving around the water like a ballet troupe. The wall lighting creates a magical effect, like a surprising eclipse. Thanks to the arty design by the renowned duo of Serge and Robert Cornelissen.

SPARKLING WAVES

Inspired by the ocean and the elegant play of light, Ocean View represents the dynamic reflection of the sun and the moon on the water. Dozens of integrated led lights operate separately. Just like the sun is reflected on the undulating water, the led lights light up in the transparent ocean plastic. The innovative technology makes for a unique and natural shimmering.

NAIL YOUR COLORS TO THE MAST

The ocean’s versatility, as well as the surprising vitality of ocean plastic, are displayed through four unique color palettes. Each version consists of compacted waste straight from the ocean, giving Ocean View its unique character. Just like the sight of the sea, each composition is unique and always different. Always intriguing, always inspiring.

TIME TO TAKE ACTION

If we don’t take action, by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean, according to the United Nations, not us. The numbers are alarming, the need to take action has never been greater. Ocean plastic is one of the biggest challenges the world is facing. And in order to get plastic out of the ocean, you need to think out of the box. Creator Kate Vanhoutte knows that “Ocean View is not a solution”. “It’s a statement. An elegant wake up-call.”
